Polen Capital Equity – How ESG is Integrated in Our Investment Process

• We view ESG as a holistic approach to understanding a company’s relationships with stakeholders, such as employees, customers, shareholders, communities and the environment, and the company’s ability to deliver unique value to those stakeholders today, and in the future. 
• Within our bottom-up, fundamental analysis we study and integrate an expansive set of business issues, including those commonly classified as ESG issues, into our research and investment decision-making.
• We focus on a company’s value proposition to stakeholders and competitive advantages and approach our stakeholder evaluation from a sustainable value creation and risk management lens, assessing ongoing initiatives which can amplify the value or mitigate issues stakeholders see.
• We generally engage with management on its key initiatives, including the company’s approach to ESG, and typically vote proxies in line with sustainability guidelines in an effort to promote best practices in areas such as corporate governance.

2022 ESG Report

This report illustrates examples of how portfolio companies owned by Polen Capital's three investment teams have embedded sustainability practices and stakeholder value creation into their businesses. The team at Polen believe these are important considerations which further their conviction in the ability of these companies to grow and reward clients over time. The report also features examples of company engagements, dialogue with company management, which provide insights on a company’s ESG initiatives to further inform the analysis and views.
